What This Coffee Tastes Like

Santos Brisa is a classic Brazilian single origin selected for consistency, balance, and everyday drinkability. Naturally processed and grown across Brazil’s renowned coffee regions, it delivers a smooth profile with low acidity and dependable sweetness.

This coffee is ideal for those who enjoy nutty, chocolate-driven flavours and a rounded cup that performs reliably across multiple roast levels and brewing methods.

Roast Profile

Medium Roast

The medium roast of Santos Brisa offers a smooth, balanced cup with low acidity and a soft, rounded body. Natural processing brings forward hazelnut, cocoa, and praline, creating a gentle sweetness with a clean, approachable finish.

This roast is well suited to filter brewing and espresso, ideal for those who prefer comfort, balance, and clarity without sharpness.

Dark Roast

The dark roast of Santos Brisa develops deeper sweetness and a fuller mouthfeel while maintaining balance. Flavours lean toward bittersweet chocolate, roasted peanut, and caramel, delivering a bold yet smooth cup.

Best suited for espresso and milk-based drinks, this roast provides richness and structure without becoming smoky or bitter.

We roast in fresh small batches for peak flavour and quality, and let every batch degas before it ships, so your coffee reaches you at its best.

Santos Brisa is sourced from Brazil’s core Arabica-growing regions, including Cerrado Mineiro, Mogiana, and Sul de Minas. These regions are known for stable climates, nutrient-rich soils, and consistent coffee production.

Grown at elevations between 900 and 1300 metres, this coffee is naturally processed, with cherries dried whole under the sun to enhance body and sweetness. The result is a smooth, balanced cup with Brazil’s signature nutty and chocolate-forward character.

Composed primarily of Catuaí and Caturra varieties, Santos-grade coffees are valued worldwide for their reliability, balance, and broad appeal across multiple roast styles.

COFFEE QUESTIONS

Questions, answered

The things people ask us most about this coffee.

What does it taste like?

Smooth and balanced, with milk chocolate, caramel, hazelnut, and brown sugar. Low acidity and easy sweetness make it very approachable.

Which brew methods suit it best?

Espresso, drip machine, French press, and moka pot. It works well as a dependable daily coffee.

Does it work well in bean-to-cup machines?

Yes. It is smooth, sweet, and forgiving, so it dials in easily on automatic machines for consistent everyday coffee.

What is the difference between the medium and dark roasts?

Medium is soft and rounded, leaning on hazelnut, cocoa, and praline with a clean finish. Dark develops deeper sweetness and a fuller mouthfeel, moving toward bittersweet chocolate, roasted peanut, and caramel.

Which roast should I choose?

Choose medium for a clean, comforting cup, or dark for a bolder, richer espresso that still stays smooth.

Is this a good coffee for beginners?

Yes. It is smooth, sweet, and low in acidity, one of the easiest coffees to enjoy whether or not you are new to specialty coffee.

How should I grind my coffee for my brew method?

Choose your grind at checkout, or select whole bean and grind at home. As a guide: fine for espresso, medium for pour over and drip, and coarse for French press.

How fresh is the coffee when it arrives?

We roast weekly in small batches in Ottawa, and your order ships within 3 business days of being placed, so your coffee reaches you soon after its roast for peak flavour.

Should I choose whole bean or ground?

Every coffee is available as whole bean or ground to your brew method. Whole bean stays fresher longer; ground is ready to brew right away.

How should I store my coffee to keep it fresh?

Keep it in an airtight container away from light, heat, and moisture. Avoid the fridge, and use it within a few weeks of opening for the best flavour.

Can I subscribe and save?

Yes. Choose a subscription at checkout to get fresh coffee delivered on your schedule. You can adjust or cancel anytime per our subscription policy.

Where do you ship, and how much is shipping?

We ship across Canada and to many countries worldwide. Free Standard shipping applies to Canadian orders, starting at $70 in Ontario and Quebec and rising by region up to $85 in the North. Standard rates within Canada start at $6.49. International customers cover shipping and any customs or duties, all shown at checkout.

The coffee beans I received

"The coffee beans I received have been great so far, and I did order a selection to try several roasts/beans. I was disappointed with the packaging used to deliver it, particularly the styrofoam peanuts. They are the worse, and the box was too big. Though I ordered enough this first time to get free shipping, the amount I should order in the future for consumption by a 2 person household will be much less, so shipping costs will likely be a deterrent."
