What makes a coffee an espresso roast?

Our espresso roast sits between medium and dark, developed specifically for espresso to balance body, sweetness, and a smooth crema. It is not our darkest roast; it is dialled in for a rich, balanced shot under pressure.

Can I use espresso roast in other brewers?

Yes. It also works well in moka pot, French press, and drip, though it is developed with espresso in mind.

Do espresso roasts have more caffeine?

No. Caffeine is similar across roasts. Espresso feels strong because it is concentrated, not because the beans hold more caffeine.

Arabica or Robusta for espresso?

Arabica gives sweetness and clarity; Robusta adds body, crema, and a caffeine kick. Great espresso can use either, depending on the cup you want.
