COFFEE QUESTIONS
Questions, answered
The things people ask us most about this coffee.
What does it taste like?
Bold, smooth and rich, with earthy depth, tobacco, and dark chocolate. Very low acidity and a heavy body make it full and grounding rather than bright.
Which brew methods suit it best?
Espresso, French press, moka pot, and drip machine. A slightly coarser grind helps keep the heavy body while reducing bitterness.
Does it make good espresso?
Yes. Its heavy body and low acidity give a thick, weighty shot with deep earthy chocolate, and it holds up strongly in milk.
What is the difference between the medium and dark roasts?
Medium keeps a smoother, more balanced cup with gentle spice, creamy body, and subtle sweetness. Dark builds a heavier body with deeper smoky, earthy character, ideal for espresso and milk drinks.
Which roast should I choose?
Choose medium for an easier, rounded everyday cup, or dark for maximum body and depth in espresso and milk.
Is this a good coffee for beginners?
Yes. It is bold but smooth and very low in acidity, so it is easy to enjoy if you like heavier, grounding coffee.
How should I grind my coffee for my brew method?
Choose your grind at checkout, or select whole bean and grind at home. As a guide: fine for espresso, medium for pour over and drip, and coarse for French press.
How fresh is the coffee when it arrives?
We roast weekly in small batches in Ottawa, and your order ships within 3 business days of being placed, so your coffee reaches you soon after its roast for peak flavour.
Should I choose whole bean or ground?
Every coffee is available as whole bean or ground to your brew method. Whole bean stays fresher longer; ground is ready to brew right away.
How should I store my coffee to keep it fresh?
Keep it in an airtight container away from light, heat, and moisture. Avoid the fridge, and use it within a few weeks of opening for the best flavour.
Can I subscribe and save?

Standard rates within Canada start at $6.49. International customers cover shipping and any customs or duties, all shown at checkout.
